Verdigris constantly investigates new ways to enable seamless electrical metering. Part of reaching that goal includes research and development into ways to strengthen network signal in areas typically enclosed by concrete and metal, or areas underground. Another part of reaching that goal includes working with our telecom partners to increase general network availability.
Cellular Connectivity
At this current time, for a reliable 4G cellular connection, the RSSI should be greater than -95 dBm (e.g. -73 dBm). A value of -125 dBm indicates no signal. If the signal is between -95 dBm and -125 dBm, consider moving the device to an alternate location (not enclosed).

Wi-Fi Connectivity
We recommend a Wi-Fi signal strength of -85 dBm or better and a minimum bandwidth of 1mbps to provide a stable connection.
To check Wi-Fi signal strength, please perform the following on your relevant device:
Windows 10: Download the WiFi Analyzer App
Mac OS: Connect to your Wi-Fi network. Hold down the Option key and then click on the WiFi menu. Signal strength is measured in RSSI.
Android Devices: Download and run the WiFi Analyzer App
iOS Devices: Download the Airport Utility App and follow this guide.
Currently Verdigris only operates in the 2.4GHz band on channels 1-11. If you see channel numbers higher than 11, your Wi-Fi is in the 5GHz band and is incompatible with Verdigris. Most 5GHz routers also have a 2.4GHz band, check your Wi-Fi settings for other available networks in range.
