Energy Data Gateway Extension Cable Policy and Specifications

This article addresses common questions and clarifications regarding the inclusion and availability of extension cables for EDG units.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

1. Included Extension Cables

Each Energy Data Gateway (EDG) system includes the following extension cables:

  • 3x 0.2m Chain Extension Cables

  • 3x 1m Chain Extension Cables

  • 3x 3m Chain Extension Cables

This totals 12.6m (41ft) of extension cables per unit. The maximum supported loop length per chain remains approximately 8m (24ft), allowing for a total potential loop length of 16m across two chains.

2. Policy on Extension Cable Quantities

Previously, four extension cables were included per system. However, as of 2024, we adjusted this policy based on customer feedback indicating that the fourth cable was often unnecessary. The updated configuration now includes three cables per size. This change has been communicated during regular support meetings.

3. Purchasing Additional Extension Cables

Although demand for additional cables has historically been low, replacement cables can be purchased in case of damage or loss. Options:

  • 0.2m Cable

  • 1m Cable

  • 3m Cable

For our international customers the inclusion of return labels for unused cables may not be feasible due to logistical constraints.

4. Handling Installation Scenarios Exceeding Cable Length

If you require longer cables to achieve the maximum supported loop length (16m), additional cables can be purchased to meet installation requirements. We advise evaluating the optimal configuration during the installation planning phase.

5. Notification of Specification Changes

To ensure seamless communication, any specification changes will be discussed and documented during our deployment meetings with you.
