Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts. One factor is something you are already familiar with, using username and password. By using an OTP (One-Time Password) authenticator app, you can protect your accounts from unauthorized access. Follow these steps to log in using 2FA with an OTP authenticator:
Step 1: Set Up an OTP Authenticator App
Choose an Authenticator App:
Authy (Google Play / App Store)
Google Authenticator (Google Play / App Store)
Auth0 Guardian (Google Play / App Store)
Microsoft Authenticator (Google Play / App Store)
Open the Authenticator App
Add Your Account to the Authenticator
Go to the Verdigris login (Admin Console / Analytics)
Navigate to the security settings and look for the option to set up two-factor authentication.
Choose the option to use an authenticator app.
You will see a QR code on the screen.
Scan the QR Code:
In your authenticator app, look for an option to add a new account (usually a "+" or "Add" button).
Select the option to scan a QR code.
Use your mobile device's camera to scan the QR code displayed on the website.
Save the Backup Codes: The website might provide backup codes. Save these codes in a safe place. They can be used to access your account if you lose your mobile device.
Verify Setup:
The authenticator app will generate a six-digit code.
Enter this code into the website to verify that everything is set up correctly.
Step 2: Log In Using 2FA
Enter Your Username and Password: Go to the Verdigris login page (Admin Console / Analytics) and enter your username and password as usual.
Open the Authenticator App: After entering your credentials, you will be prompted to enter a verification code.
Get the Verification Code:
Open your authenticator app.
Find the account you are logging into (the app will display a list if you have multiple accounts).
A six-digit code will be displayed next to your account. This code changes every 30 seconds.
Enter the Verification Code: Type the six-digit code from the authenticator app into the prompt on the website.
Access Granted: Once you enter the correct code, you will be logged into your account.
Tips for Using 2FA with an OTP Authenticator
Keep Your Mobile Device Secure: Since your authenticator app is on your mobile device, ensure it is protected with a strong password, PIN, or biometric security.
Backup Your Codes: Always save backup codes provided during setup. They are essential if you lose access to your authenticator app.
Sync Time: Make sure the time on your mobile device is set correctly. OTP codes rely on the correct time to function.
