December 1, 2023 | Dynamic Phase and Polarity Reconfiguration with Historical Data Correction

Ensure accurate insights by retroactively correcting phase and polarity configurations across historical and live energy data.

Updated over a month ago

When managing energy data, accuracy is critical—especially as decisions depend on the reliability of historical data. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce a powerful new update that corrects historical data retroactively, ensuring accuracy even if a Current Transformer (CT) was initially configured incorrectly.

Why It Matters

Misconfigurations in phase and polarity can lead to inaccurate data, undermining insights and affecting downstream analytics. Previously, a correction would only apply to future data, leaving historical records uncorrected and less reliable. This update addresses that gap, creating a new standard for confidence in data accuracy.

Key Benefits:

  • Historical Accuracy: Fixing the phase and polarity configuration now applies to past and future data, eliminating inaccuracies from misconfiguration.

  • Simple Corrections: A user-friendly validator flags potential misconfigurations and allows easy correction.

  • Boosted Trust in Data Quality: With full historical correction, data sets become more reliable, driving better insights and more confident decision-making.

How It Works

In the Admin Console, the CT Data Validator displays color-coded indicators to guide configuration adjustments. (See image below for a preview of the configuration interface):

  • Green: The CT is likely configured correctly as a demand load.

  • Red: The CT may be misconfigured or set to monitor power generation; click to change settings.

  • Grey: The CT is likely monitoring an inactive circuit or may be misconfigured.

For each CT, all phase and polarity options are provided. Users can:

  1. Review Sample Data – Including Energy, Power Factor, and Negative Power.

  2. Set Configuration – Apply expected values, bypassing hypothetical ones.

  3. Validate Changes – The Admin Console will prevent common errors by disabling inappropriate options.

Once changes are finalized, users can click Select Configuration to apply settings and Save to make adjustments effective. Use the on-screen tips and commissioning documentation for extra validation.

Simplified Process

Admins can now adjust configurations confidently, knowing that any corrections will update historical data to reflect the most accurate view of energy usage.

Update Now to streamline your data’s reliability and unlock insights built on a foundation of accuracy, past and present.
