Breakdown of LED Error codes on the Verdigris Data Transmitter.

Updated over 8 months ago

Please see the installation manual for EV2 Verdigris System Error Codes and their explanations. The following guide is prepared for EV1 systems.

The Verdigris system's exterior ring light shows overall system status. This light will change when its internet connection, its ability to detect voltage, or the integrity of the digital sensor (CT) chain is compromised. This article will teach you how to check the lights in the service panel to understand how your system is doing.

To access the service panel, lower the sliding plate located on the bottom part of your Data Transmitter. There are three indicator lights displayed here, and each tells you about a different part of the Verdigris system. The lights will change color and blinking patterns to indicate status or error.

The table and examples below explain the light codes.  Not all lights below are error codes.  Blinking red and red lights correspond to errors.

This breakdown of our LED error codes can also be found in our Installation Guides.

After your Verdigris Gateway has been mounted and sensors "CT" have been installed, the next step is to "TURN ON" the gateway. Upon powering on, the bottom-most LED in the service panel will illuminate to show the status of your CTs.

When this happens, the system will perform a diagnostic chain check to determine the integrity of the CT chain. You should see a white LED on each of the Smart CTs and lights on each port of the HCIM blinking rapidly. This is normal and an indication of the self test, and they should turn off after a moment. The system will cycle through the test until any issues are resolved. Depending on the color displayed on the Verdigris system's CT LED, you may be done with the physical installation, or need to check your CT chain's connections.

A solid green LED shows that your CT Chain is connected properly and working. Solid red indicates a break in CT chain 2, and blinking red shows the same for chain 1. This means the CT chain is not completely connected. In each case, the chain should be checked for a difference in lighting patterns on the sensors or HCIMs in the chain check and reconnected where needed. You may need to press the power button to reset CT chain connectivity and test again. Once the break in chain is resolved, recheck the LED panel for a Solid Green CT status light.

See the diagram below for an example of a CT chain break.

The figure above shows a break in CT chain 1 on the left, between the second and third CT. Notice the top two LEDs blinking to indicate they are working, and the rest are not illuminated. After powering off the system, start at the top and work your way down and verify each connector is seated to the next CT properly.

The figure below mirrors this issue for CT Chain 2, on the right side of the panel.

CT Chain: Blinking Red

A blinking red CT indicator means there is a break in CT chain 1. There will be a difference in lighting patterns where there is a break in the chain. Check that the CT chain is completely clamped closed and securely connected, and press the power button to reset CT chain connectivity. Allow 30-120 seconds to run tests and check the CT status LEDs.

CT Chain: Solid Red

A solid red CT indicator means there is a break in CT chain 2. Properly connected CT LEDs will blink white, while incorrectly connected CT LEDs will be off. Check that the CT chain is completely connected, and if necessary, press the power button to reset CT chain connectivity. Allow 30-120 seconds for the system to run tests and check the CT status LEDs.

Once your CT is correctly connected, and your CT LED confirms this, move on to your "Voltage Ports" LED.

Voltage Ports: Red

A red light on the Voltage light indicator means two voltage phases and Neutral attached. Confirm panel is a three-phase delta 240V, split-phase, or two-phase 120V configuration.

Voltage Ports: Blinking White

Blinking white lights indicate a busy system, hence, the system is processing. CT chain indicator must be green first for LED indicator to change.

Voltage Ports: Blinking Green

Blinking green light indicator means single voltage phase and neutral attached. The panel is connected as a single-phase configuration.

Voltage Ports: Green

Solid green indicates three voltage phase and neutral attached. Panel is connected as a three-phase wye configuration.

Once your Voltage is present, and your Voltage LED confirms this, move on to your Wifi/LTE/Ethernet "Data Connectivity" LED.

Data Connectivity: Blinking Red

A blinking red Wifi indicator means that the system cannot connect to the internet, the system WiFi hotspot is broadcasting. To troubleshoot, please connect to the system via your mobile device to debug wireless connectivity.

Data Connectivity: Red

Red light also indicates that the system cannot connect to the internet, system WiFi hotspot is broadcasting. To troubleshoot, please press the reset button for 1 second to bring up setup tools and debug wireless connectivity.

Data Connectivity: Green

Green light indicates the system is connected, no system hotspot broadcasting. To broadcast hotspot press the reset button for one second.

The system is designed to store information when it cannot connect and will update our servers once a connection is established. If the issue does not resolve itself within 24 hours, or if you have any questions,  please email support@verdigris.co so we can determine the best connection method for your system.
