What are the Verdigris CT indicator thresholds?
What are the Verdigris CT indicator thresholds?
Updated over a month ago

Once CTs are installed and configured, Verdigris Admin Console's Configuration page provides visual indicators to help you validate the configuration of the installed CT is set correctly.

The indicators are categorized into three colors, based on the thresholds:

POSITIVE (verdigris green) if total real energy consumed over the last 24 hours is at least 0.4% of the CT rating and the PF > 0.6

  1. for SmartCT (90A) = > 1KWh

  2. for Hinged CT (200A) = > 2.3KWh

  3. for Coil CT (500A) = > 5.76KWh

In the example above, the selected Phase and Polarity configuration is considered:

  1. Valid if the equipment downstream is

    1. Expected to draw power

    2. In partial or full load condition

    3. Matches the physical installation

  2. Invalid if the equipment downstream is:

    1. Expected to draw power

    2. In no or extremely low load conditions

    3. Does not match the physical installation

NEGATIVE (red) if any 15 minutely period over the last 24 hours is < -0.4% of CT rating

  1. for Smart CT (90A) = < -42W

  2. Hinged CT (200A) = < -96W

  3. Coil CT (500A) = < -240W

In the example above, the selected Phase and Polarity configuration is considered:

  1. Valid if the equipment downstream is

    1. Expected to produce power

    2. In partial or full load condition

    3. Matches the physical installation

  2. Invalid if the equipment downstream is:

    1. Expected to draw power

    2. In no or extremely low load conditions

    3. Does not match the physical installation

INSUFFICIENT (grey) if not Positive and not Negative. The data in this case is often "noise" and cannot be technically validated.

In the example above, the selected Phase and Polarity configuration is considered:

  1. Valid if the equipment downstream is in no or extremely low load conditions. Return to validate again once the equipment is in higher load conditions.

  2. Invalid if the equipment downstream is in partial or full load conditions. In this case:

    1. Check the CT thresholds below to confirm load thresholds for the indicator to activate

    2. If the equipment load is expected to meet the thresholds for the CT Type, then reach out to support@verdigris.co for further investigation.

To make changes to the configuration, click "Panel Actions" > "Edit Panel Configuration" > "Validate CTs" to analyze all possible configurations and update to successfully validate.

Please contact support@verdigris.co if you have any questions or suggestions about this feature.

Note: CTs can be reconfigured to a different phase and polarity setting within a few clicks. Once saved, the new configuration immediately takes effect and all historical data (starting August 1, 2023) is recalculated and backfilled, accessible via Verdigris Analytics and Verdigris APIs.
